Medical Massage Patient $25-$35 per unit. Medical massage is billed per 15 minute unit according to usual and customary fees for each therapy code that represents the service provided.
- A person being referred or prescribed massage or manual therapy treatments by a physician (Medical Doctor, Doctor of Chiropractic, or Doctor of Osteopathy), shall first be considered a PATIENT. A diagnosis and prescription recommended by the physician shall determine the course of treatment for the patient. Additional time and correspondence is necessary to provide service to you as a patient.
- We ask that you contact our office with additional information regarding your prescription, referral, medical necessity and insurance information prior to your first appointment so additional verification can be confirmed. During your first visit, you will be asked to complete additional information to confirm your patient, insurance, attorney, financial contract, assignment of benefits and release of records information; so please allow an additional 10 minutes prior to your first appointment.
- As a courtesy, we will gladly assist our patients in filing necessary bills and related attachments for those who have insurance benefits or coverage for our services.
Insurance Benefits and Coverage
Motor Vehicle Accident and Workers Compensation claims typically have adequate coverage for massage and manual therapy treatments provided by a licensed massage therapist. A physician's prescription is necessary for coverage.
Major Medical Health Insurance Plans typically do not offer benefits for any procedures performed by a massage therapist. However, Adventist Risk Management typically offers benefits for services provided by a massage therapist. Through years of sending patient bills to these companies, the following plans currently do NOT pay a massage therapist: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Coventry, Midlands Choice.
